Do you ever do sculptures of guys?
Or just of animals?

Or do you always sculpt women?

P.S...Can I ask you a sculpting question, if you have time. Well, every time I use a transluscent clay (I've just used Super Sculpey for the first time), I get cracks, and it is really doing my head in! :( I even had the heat really low in the oven this time and it still cracked. The non-transluscent clays are fine but I really like the realistic flesh colour of the transluscent. I just can't work out what I'm doing wrong. :( I'm not really getting much in the way of moonies - just cracks. :( Any advice would be most appreciated, thanks.

It could be a couple things causeing it. Make sure your aramture isnt flexing or moving around. Sometimes youll get a mico fracture from that, that isnt visible till after you bake. Or if your sculpt moved during baking you can get a big crack.

I found it really helps to use epoxy clay to keep the figure from wiggling. I have heard that aves expands during baking and that can cause cracks, but Ive never had that happen. The magic sculpt is suposed to not expand during baking..just in case. Aluminum foil inside can also expand. Ive ahd fractures from that when using a stiff clay.

if you havent conditioned it much that can happen. splits because the clay isnt as flexible when its applied. If you bend a peice of the unbaked clay in half does it tear or crack open where you bend or does it bend nice?

Be careful using solvents to smooth your sculpts. like rubbing alchol or acetone. That can cause a weird crackle network of cracks.
I hope one of those things will help!:)

You will get past it.There are good OOAK polymer clay fairy forums you can ask questions at too. likely many have had the same issue from time to time.

Thank you Es. Its good practice to try and duplicate a certain face. I still want to make a zombie girl and if I can make her sexy that will be magic haha!
