This is Francine an antique life sized child mannequin I am moding into a partially ball jointed doll. I bought her for my B day in April ^-^

Here I have drilled eye holes for glass ones, over sculpted upper and lower lids, refined nose with a dremel, resculpted mouth. narrowing of temples with a dremmel and some patching of holes. I am also working on her body. Ive made her anatomically correct ,added nipples , a belly button and bit more of a rounded tummy.
She is inspired by Francine Descartes the rumored mechanical doll that replaced Rene Descartes daughter who died of scarlet fever. The doll was thrown in to the sea during a voyage.

Now that's a story I'd read about, truly a tale of intrigue. Looking forward to this, too.

yeah its a cool story. you can read online but, its not known if its true or not. Some thought he never had a daughter but, it always was this doll!if he did have a life sized mechanical doll I like to think somehow she survived. washed up on a beach somewhere or something.
I want to add in some clues of her story and fate. the scarlet fever, the sea etc and make her look of a much older era. Ive made her face quite pensive and sad. I think I will add a crystal tear because her father lost her twice.

Sounds like it's going to be another one full of intrigue. The idea that you're going to tell a story like that through the sculpture very exciting.

Thanks yeah I hope so.mostly you will see aged materials 15th century like is my goal. And sea theme since its were she ended. and some clockwork or mechanical type clues as well. Ill like to research the era and any clues I can get but, Ill also take liberties. Francine's father is known for saying " I think therefore I am" said by Pris in Blade runner ;)

This is sounding so ambitious to me, I actually am getting a little hyped by the prospect. This is gonna be cool. I've only seen part of Blade Runner with my friend though, who's a major fan of the movie.
