What do you sculpt these out of? Where do you get the eyes? This looks like it would be so much fun!

If you look in my scraps there's a Dhampire child BJD prototype , A bjd Briar I made in 2005 and I also have a new BJD to be released this year. I wont be showing images of her until shes cast and ready. I meant to try optional heads ,but its really not worth it to make about 100 per head. The molding and casting is really expensive.

oh? ill go take a look, not sure how i missed that!
also there are doll companies that you can send the head to and they will mold and cast them for you, its just something you would probably need/want todo preorders for. the ones i remember off the top of my head are bobobie(they don't list prices for it online so you have to contact them) and dollshe [link] i know there was a couple more but those are the most common ones..

Thanks for the link!Dollshe I think has a pretty good rep. I want to be careful who I work with.
I dont think my heads would look right on other bodys thats the only thing. Though I like that they match the resins. I own a lutz girl body that I could make heads for sizing.

I might try a preorder for a future project but, I have so much going on right now already.

no problem! i would recommend if you do one to stick to an MSD head so there would be a wide range in both style and price for people to choose for bodies. it seems to be the most popular general size for doll owners.

it would also be a good for people like me whom would probably love a full doll by you but wouldn't be able to afford one. heh ~_^

oh if you ever needed you could use DOA or other doll forum to find local BJD owners in your area if you need/want to compare the head to a larger arrange of dolls for sizing. most people are really nice about stuff like that.

OK well hope when your less busy you pick something up, in the mean time ill just continue watching the other pretty sculptures you make..

I live in a teensy town Im even surprised theres one BJD fan!

possibly, or you can buy a cheaper MSD sized one just for size reference(if you have a DOA account theres a list of the cheaper MSD/Mini dolls here [link] although it would be cheaper to buy just a body and not a full doll).. if your looking for something like that and don't want to worry about a new one or want to trade you can join den of angels and get marketplace access where people sale/trade/buy. if you need an invite code let me know(you also gotta have 40posts and be a member for 25 days before you get access to 'the marketplace' on there) DOA isn't the only BJD forum it just seems to be the most popular one.

also if you want to look for tips on building a BJD you should check out 'the joint' [link]

you could also easily just buy an upper chest/torso piece for sizing as apposed to a whole body as well O.o most doll companies sale pieces for replacements and things you just have to contact them directly.

I am a member of DoA though Ive never tried to sell anything there. Im not sure if I will need an invite code. I dont spend a lot of time there so I may not have 40 posts. its good they have that feature though!

haha Im also a member at the joint. I had started a head before just guessing the MSD size, but I never finished that project. I suppose it would be cheaper to buy the head than a body for making sure of fit.
Hmm parts is interesting too.Thanks:)
