Leadwings wip by Sleetwealth Leadwings wip by Sleetwealth
This one is sort of a dud. Rough draft maybe. I might scrap it.
No idea what Im doing. I think the idea of a crown of lead wings is neat but , besides that what is it??!

The clay I use is a mix sometimes of polymer clay brands. Premo which is the same as sculpy only stronger, puppen fimo, living doll or kata clays.

oh you pose an interesting question;
what is it?

On first glance it's actually quite comical, and I have
to admit I laughed at the sight of what looks like an
unibrow.
**insert flashbacks of the boy band Menudo**

...haha

...but back to your question....
...hmm...

...it could possibly be "Icarus"....
That could also explain the bandage around the face,
as well as the band-aid on the cheek. Evidence of failed
attempts at escaping imprisonment.
...but of course that's just probably one of many possible
interpretations.

When in doubt, look at the Greeks...
..they had all the answers....haha...
even to this day.

:giggle: I dont know how I didnt see that when I was making it. The wings are suposed to be sprouting out of her head which is usualy how I add elements they grow out of the figures phyche.

Actualy thats about right. Only Icarus got off the ground and flew too high. I think her trouble is gravity.

well I wanted to put a bandaid on the face for a while and I figured shes been trying to fly with her leadwings and I thought she'd be bunged up from falling alot. Scraped knees too If I got that far.

I love her eyes the different size pupils give her a mentally unstable look. Perhaps she could be removing her heart or tearing her chest open to show she's not empty. Just a thought.....i like her alot XD

Actauly the concept behind the wings is the miricle that she can still fly. She does look mentaly unstable..not what I was going for and thats probably whats bothering me! haha

The clay is Premo brand polymerclay. I mix the color myself using translucent and beige with a bit of white.

I can't afford that right now, but I think as a general life goal I will one day buy a bust from you. Your sculpture is what I would love to be able to sculpt, but I lack the skill.

I list smaller things on occasion for alot less. They arent as detailed or as nice though. Im looking for a new apt and trying to finish up on bigger projects first so, I havent been doing it much.

Sculpting isnt hard to do , easier in some ways htan drawing and painting. Ive been doing it 6yrs so Im pretty good at it now.

I would be over joyed to get anywhere near your skill level, but at the moment I don't do any sculpting at all, and I can't expect to grow if I don't practice, eh?

I use Sculpty (Or, I have, since I don't actively sculpt) but I have a really hard time with dust and pet hair getting into the clay, even when I wipe down the table and wash my hand, I always end up with grey, hairy clay.

Yup everybody has to start at step one and build on thier knowledge.

Dirt is the bane of polymer and Ive gotten so fed up with it that Im painting my clay most of the time. In the summer with fans on the fans blow lint. Its too hot to work without the fans, plus my hands get sweaty and gross. Its a little easier in the cool months.

I wash my hands with dawn dishwashing liquid. That strips the oils from your hands, then I use cotton balls with rubbing alchol untill the balls are clean. You have to wear light colors or you get colored lint in the clay and if you scratch your scalp or touch anything roll a ball of scrap clay in your hands to pick off the dirt.
After the sculpt is finished if it still has dirt on it you can get most of it off with sanding.. as long as its on top and not trapped inside.

Why do I get the feeling this would work beautifully if the face was also framed by long, raven-black hair...?
At any rate, far from a dud; she has that peculiar beauty that only you can serve up this well...

Well hair would help. I tied some tissue around the head since she had no hair.
I figure writers get rough drafts so why not sculptors? I need a bit of a spark for her.
