With the delicate nature of *Sleetwealth's sculptures, the expression and solitude of Morrigan full I find incredibly captivating. The gaze in her eyes, and the bird in flight really pull together a stunning scene. ( Suggested by rapidograph and Featured by oilsoaked )

Is this intended to be Morrigan as in the Celtic goddess? If so, I applaud you.
Well regardless, this is a really, really well crafted sculpture. I'm quite impressed ^^
Oh, and if you don't mind, may I ask what this was made from? C:

Yes it is Morrigan the celtic goddess in her Phantom Queen persona. Lady of death, birth and battle!

Its mixed media ,but the figure is sculpted of polymer clay.

Oh, that's great! I've been learning alot about this goddess lately, it's wonderful to see some artwork of her :)

I thought it seemed like polymer clay, I really like that stuff. I've worked with it a bit, I've actually been thinking of getting back into it so it's lovely to see something so inspiring like this. ^^

would this be a depiction of the Morrigan from ancient Celtic mythology? it seems like it is becaise of the crow she has with her...
if it is, kudos to you for delving into the very ancient myths!!
the sculpture is very nice, i love it!

Yes it is. I am showing her in her Phantom Queen form. There are also drops of blood on the snow that leads to a fallen warrior and also on the hem of her dress from kneeling by them.

I love making obscurish mythilogical characters and adding as much detail as I can manage.. Especialy ones linked to pagan religions, preraphealites and fairy culture.

the sculpting in all your peices is good, but how do you make the costumes, some are just simply beautimous lol

Thank you. Im so pleased:D Im actauly new to sewing clothing! I dont even have patterns. I sew parts like the hems and gathers by hand. Then peices are glued right onto the figure overlapping so you dont see ugly rough edges. A friend of mine sent a package with decent silk swatches so I was able to make prettier dresses.
Im am tuning into an antique fabric lustophile. cant afford it now ,but fine fabric seems to make all the diffenrce in the world!

The clay has a nice translucency that makes them look skinlike.
I decided to work more from photos to get better at realism. In teh close up you can see Morrigan even has veins.

Thank you. This one has more realism because she was sculpted with an actaul model. The others are made with no referance and from my mind only.

Yeah shes rocks! Strong beautiful warrioress who also is godess of death and life. I wanted to interpret her a bit softer that usual. You cannot see it in the photo ,but she is following a blood trail in the snow to a fallen warrior.

Thank you. How so? too short? If you can pinpoint what looks odd Ill keep it in mind next time I sculpt some arms. I admit that the elbow to forearm is a hard area for me to get right. I always end up smooshing the elbow work.

:iconwindestaenzerin:
Windestaenzerin Featured By Owner Jul 22, 2008  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Well, it's too thin for her, probably.
But the major problem is the elbow. It's too round, the tip you made should be a little more to the left ;) And her wrist looks somehow twisted to me.
