Princess is 6" from her elbow to her leg tips. Her braided pony tail is 13" sculpted of polymer, painted with inks ,oils ,pastels and blue interferance powder. Her hat is gilded.

My good camera is broken so, sorry about the bad image.
I am still sewing her pillow out of the background silk.

I dont know. The faces come out the way they want. Theyre all diffenrt characters.

Her story is like Romeo and Juliet. She is a princess, young, pampered and admired for her esquisite beauty ,but she falls in love with a servant. In her world everyone born with hands and feet are commoners fit only for labor and those born without are nobility.

Like others here, this one sucked my breath and words away. All your dolls are amazing and frontpageworthy, but this one in particular has a rawness, an immediateness, and elementary pull.

This is one I made with no expectation. That is always the best when you dont need to please anybody but yourself and do what you want no matter how weird. Also since it was scrap clay I didnt take it seriously untill she was done..just having fun.
She fits in the palm of the hand and without arms and legs almost a touchstone. I like her so well that I wanted to make more like this.

When my mom was little, she visited a carnival and there she saw the "snake woman". She described her to me as a very beautiful woman whose hands and feet were "attached" to her body. She wasn't able to walk.. yet she moved just like a snake. Her skin also had a "scales" like texture in some places.

For some reason your sculpt "reminds" me of her. Her pose and everything just brought to my mind the snake lady my mom had mentioned years back ;)

Dark, yet very very moving (like all your works)!!!!

If I may ask, how much does it usually cost you for supplies for your figures?
Reply
:iconsleetwealth:
Sleetwealth Featured By Owner Jul 13, 2008  Professional Traditional Artist
Well it depends. You mean the tools required too or all the investment in learning material? Or only the actaul amount used on one figure?

its not all that expensive if you want to get into it,but I wouldnt go out an buy everything in one day.

Sorry for lacking specifics, heh. I meant for the actual amount you use for one figure, like materials. :)

Why dont you look it up the materials yourself?Youll have to do some division since I dont use entire packages on one.

Id say I use about 5 bucks worth of clay. I dont measure how much mohair ,paint, floral tape, ink, varnish, cellpane, glitter, wire or epoxy I use. Generally Id say its under $15 unless there is a wood base and/or silk fabric. Then tack on an extra 5-7 bucks.
