ScarLet little scar wip by Sleetwealth ScarLet little scar wip by Sleetwealth
This is ScarLet a 5" bust on an leather body. it is a protype for a new style Im trying. Im really fond of ScarLet she is a blind girl and has an unusual birthmark on her cheeks.

I love primitive and old dolls especially ones that look crazy ,decayed and weird.
later I will show Scarlet fully but, she is hung up on supplies.

I just finished watching Eraserhead last night. It was very sad, but I liked it. This reminded me of the deformed baby in the movie (not in the way it looks, but just how it's wrapped up and seems disabled). The baby was my favorite character, and now I want to do some art inspired by it. This has kind of inspired me to make that.

Charlyn/Sharon you mean when she was found by the roadside? Great! I wanna see:)

It's awesome. It reminds me of the doll-monster, named Scarlet from the game Silent Hill Homecoming.

The first is very dated and old now,but you should really play 2 and 3 at least!!! Or watch somebody brave play! The thing is watching it wont crawl under your skin the way being immersed in that world will. Small things like opening a door and not knowing what disgusting thing is going to be on the other side that you will have to fight with almost no weapons or turn off your flashlight till it walks past you but, you are in the pitch dark hearing it shuffle wondering if it will notice.

Graffiti on the wall that says "there was a hole here ,now its gone" or a room with an old rusted birdcage and the sound of wings fluttering but, no bird anywhere. Also the little children that are creatures in the school they giggle as they try to stab you.And stay out of bathrooms!bad, bad things!

I identified with it heavily even the music is atmospheric and good.
Each character has a mysterious story and reason for being trapped there. Its not senseless splatter gore its purposeful and deep.

I am inspired by Silent Hill too. Did you see her fight? It's here: [link]

Her story, and the soundtrack for her fight is great too. :] I love when you hit her, her porcelain limbs shatter revealing flesh.

I dont get to see as many really good horror films. The Asian horror is better ,but then my stupid videostore barely has any!

I love anything post apocalyptic and I like zombies or ghosts.

There also was Siren.. like fatal frame, but not as scary to me.

They are pretty old games. Rule of rose is so creepy cause its about evil little girls in a orphanage.haunting ground you are trapped in a castle with bad people and you have no weapons you have to hide till they go away!.Gallerians is cool kinda like Persona with anime teen characters, but with twisted science experiments and kids injected with drugs that make them have powers. It needs to be remade. The graphics are so old. But these have better stories than some newer ones. And there isnt as much new horror games coming except silent hill and resident evil.

I love asian horror too. One of my favorite movies is A Tale of Two Sisters (Korean) actually. I love ghosts--zombies I haven't gotten into but all watch anything.

Rule of Rose sounds really interesting to me. I was playing Call of Cthulu for PS2, but forgot about it. It's pretty creepy though~

Thank you. I am excited about the leather, but even feel a bit guilty for liking it. I am going to try to use reclaimed old things.Since I want it grungy and torn anyway.

I wouldn't feel too badly, the size of your dolls probably won't require too much, plus people have been using leather for a long time. it really is neat to work with. Has a very earthy quality Faux leather and vinyl just can't capture. Have fun with it!

The doll body is 12" its true. One person stoping is not going to end suffering. I guess I love animals and wanted my peices to be completely kind, but there is nothing like it. I made the worn body on Scarlet so I know what its like to sew leather. I will try to use reclaimed if I can help it.

I agree, although I am not against using animal products, some of the methods to attain them are horrible. I used to work for (Heritan)Tandy Leather, and we never bought snake skins from unknown sources because some exotic breeders (often 3rd world) literally skin them alive. it's awful. There is lots of second hand leather available. and the variety is astounding! When I was in High School, being so petite, I made a pair of rabbit fur pants out of an old fur coat, and painted hooves on a pair of shoes. I wore it to school with a little green bra top and antler tip on a headband... oh those were the days! So much fun!

I agree. I love animals and I also know things are gonna die and what? throw away the hide and old leather for the principal? I am against greed driven slaughter and cruelty. And skeeved by some pelts. I bought craft feathers once that still had bits of bird flesh attached.Somehow I thought the feathers were shed.

I dont want bad vibes on my art so I try to use reclaimed and like the angora fur I use is naturally shed from peoples pets. That way I know its not ripped off skinned a love or any of that!
That so cool you dresses as a lil faun!Very creative!

yes me too.Fingers crossed.

I think it solves a couple problems I was having. Ill be able to cut down on clay cause one 5" bust already takes half a block. And will restrict me on size. I need that cause I am all over the place with scale. I wont have to have bases.

I can dress them or leave naked as this body is attractive and I have patterns designed for this body. So it will be easier to make clothing anytime for a trousseau to pick from for new peices.

This looks like it's gonna be fun. Is she going to be flexible, movable, poseable or whathaveyou? If so, I think that's going to be very interesting next to your other work. Although, if that's a surprise, I'm fine with that. Because, I like surprises too.

This is something different that Ive wanted to do for a while. it cuts back on clay and is easier to dress than the small ones. My fully standing figures are only 8" . I prefer to work larger sometimes.
