I woke up in the middle of the night and sculpted this 7" figure. I only had one pink eye so her other eye is closed.

She is loosely based on a short story I read a long time ago about a society of pampered elites who evolved to be armless and leggless and got around on floating pillows.

This one reminds me of my artwork - I have always wanted to sculpt more than I do - is it currently still in this exact state of progression? Is it for sale perhaps? It is beautiful.

Probably the tattoos and darkness . I do alot of ornate organic scarification on my figures. We're probably inspired by similar sources.

No she is nearing completion now and looks diffenrt. She has a braided hair pony tail Id sell ,but I wanted to make a pillow for her to rest on. Maybe ...50. for something this basic. Ill get some better pics up when shes done.

haha! I had pink eye in April! Ironic I didnt think of that. Oh I had more planned ,but I think this one will be a mock up and Ill do a real peice based on it later. I just cant stay away from exploring the really weird figures. Even if it wont sell I consider it a mini vacation .

Oh yeah, don't even think about whether it will sell. We have to do things for us, our muse. Sigh, I wish all of us artists could have benefactors that pay for us to live without worrying about what sells. We could then make whatever our hearts desired. Could you imagine the glorious things we could all create?

Ive been tryin more and more to do what pleases me and taking hits for it,but in the long run its good because you dont get burnt out. Yeah I need an art addict philantroper to fund my most grandios schemes! its too bad so many artists can offer up the gems that are really laying dormant in their imaginations! but in a way it is good disipline that we get pushed to be productive because of bills.other wize it would be easier to spend forever on one thing!

Yeah, I understand the taking hits thing. But it's all part of the process. It's quite often that what pleases us is not what's going to please the masses. What would be great is to find the people that it would appeal to. And hope that they have money. Lol.

Good idea! That would make her creepier. Though her arms are covered by leather sheaths and her lower body is naked. Would it be dye on her clothing or stain of the skin? In which case one would be dark and not the other. Perhaps I use a bit too much logic but I always consider them like a character designer would.

I thought also her people might go in for extreme body mod beautifications like skull and foot binding.

thinking like character-designer isn´t a bad thing, because you do characters and thats how your works come out so realisitic...
but like you say in some cases its also a good thing to put the logic away:P
dye on her clothing sounds interesting:nod:

Mostly I try to use logic when considering possibilities for a peice. In this she is already implausible looking. Shes not sculpted in a realistic style, very distorted actualy. I may as well play with it.

Well ..Im a bit of a sculpt freek. My bedside table has tools and clay on it. 3am cant sleep start messing with a ball of clay then it starts to look like something and you get fired up.
People are very receptive in those wee hours. You wake up from dreams and they stay with you longer.

This is coming along so well. When I make oodles of money, I'm so going to buy one of your sculptures... One day....

I too, love the pink eye. But how do you end up with only one pink eye? Are they not sold in pairs? :D lol Either way, pink eyes are awesome.

It was a cool story. The heroine a young woman fell in love with her slave/donor. A young man who kept her alive with regular transfusions of his healthy blood. This was a common place thing in their world. Though the older elites were fat maggoty like people from laying around on pillows so long.
He was in love with her too and escaped carring her on his back, but she was too heavy and he was injured escaping. they died together in the wild.

I like the idea of her being beautiful , wearing sumptuous royal jewelry and deformed very tiny ribcage and lung capacity and wide hips because they do still give birth. Tapering stumps for arms and legs and also maybe an albino or like the flesh of a pale waxy creature that never sees sunlight... I should have sculpted her in a pale clay, but I wasnt expecting this lump of junk clay to turn into a figure. maybe I can treat her as a rough draft.

Pink eyes are the best!:D I make the eyes myself and it can be difficult to match them up exaclty. The other pink eye was a dud ,so I kept the one good eye thinking Id make its mate later. But I couldnt wait so I worked without it.

You make them yourself? That's INSANE. They look so good, I can't believe it... Wow!! I just figured they were store bought glass eyes.

No I dont even recall the book. It may have been in science fiction age magazine. Or one of the annulas of best science fiction. I read alot of short stories.
They dont make commertial eyes this small that look good. Most have no detail and dont have the deep paperweight eye effect. I had to have that because eyes are the soul of a figure!
