Lately I feel like a solder for rights.
I'm no longer sheeply tolerant of doll plagiarism! Ive seen too many friends and great talents vanish on account of it. You are heart rapists, identity thieves and lazy leeches.

Don't help this con artist, and arrogant plagiarizer get richer. She is taking peoples money for membership to sculpting classes and not delivering. Her work is not original in the slightest. She is using images from artists right here to make sculptures of. She sells how to books full of information others discovered and gave for free on the net.

I'm new to her and her work. So does she copy dolls exactly? I know that I am inspired by lots of doll artists, and hope that's not the same thing.

I can't understand why someone as talented as she is, would want to simply copy other people's work. It is a waste of her own creativity, surely. :(

That's such bullshit!! You shouldn't change your style!!! Grrr. It makes me angry.

I started sculpting and learned a lot all by myself. Made some monstrosities. All in the name of learning. Over time, I've developed my own style. If it by chance happened to look like someone else's and someone had the gall to email me about it I'd probably take a flight to their house a pepperspray them. I'd be so ticked off. I know my style is my own and I would be willing to fight for it.

I'm glad you hid the other comments. This thing about Aida needed to be said. But people take the chance to champion their heroes sometimes. The person who made the comment was probably well meaning but they commented on the profile of the person they were accusing. It made me sad because it's exactly what you said. Newbies do learn technique sometimes by imitating people they admire.

Its alright I like my child busts and it can help you grow in better directions. As an artist I started doing more and more engravings, because I knew it would be difficult for the average dollmaker to interpret. You cant get the same look with stamps. And I am getting so distinctive now that no one is at all like me.That cant be bad.

I agree. It needs to stay clear on the Aida thing and we dont want shrapnel hitting others.

Sweetie, don't be upset. The comment wasn't aimed towards you or meant to offend you.

What it read like to me was everyone has an excuse for doing the wrongs that they do. We all have our burdens to bare, yet some of us manage to get thru life without taking advantage of others.

Her sculpts don't look like fita's but she blatantly rips exact poses and styles. I've seen her do it so many times.
It doesn't bother me so much. But what bothers me is how she has scammed so many people out of money. Either with broken dolls she sold for top dollar and scared off potential collectors or new artists who paid to get mentoring and got nothing.

Now see, that is understandable. I would be angry too. And I do apologise, I just had a baby and my hormones are screwing with my head. I take everything to heart these days. Plus I don't feel I'm living up to my own potential because of my lack of funds. I didn't know she was selling broken dolls! Thats aweful! And the mentoring thing, she seemed like such a nice lady. What a shame.

Oh, sweetie. I totally understand. Been there with the hormone issue and not living up to my potential. I get it. Really. I have multiple college degrees. I got accepted into med school and here I am struggling to make it day by day because the path I chose. I'm so disappointed in myself.

Yes. Aida opened up a site where she was taking yearly membership fees for tutoring. But she never tutored. Many people paid but never got what was promised. Also, many times in the past collectors have received dolls from her that had broken pieces glued back on. And she didn't bake correctly so many of her pieces crumbled within a year. And she never stood behind her work.
I've heard so much bad news regarding her over the years. But it doesn't get around and people keep getting taken. So, that's why some artists and people who were taken advantage of are trying to make it more public. So innocent people don't fall into the same trap.

Wow, thats amazing. I never had a clue. How very sad. I talked to her a few times, but I never new she had done all of those things! College educated myself, and still can't find a job. These days it doesn't seem to make a difference. Lousy economy!

I'm afraid i started all this thing and i don't feel guilty at all. Thankyou so much Sleetwealth for giving this another platform, because as fas as i am concerned the more people know the better. Aida ripped me off also, i was a member of her guild but it don't take me long to notice that things did not sit right, and something more was going on. That's why i decided to go public with all this and open a FB group alerting other artists and collectors that she is not to be trusted. I also placed the details on my blog www.fairyality.blogspot.com as i am so sick of her stealing money from fellow artists with nothing in return. She is an artist oh yes a "Scam" artist, and i will not stop until she stops or is stopped. I want to be such a pain in the arse to her and i shall continue to be so. She is so blaze about it and tells people she's the victim, and it really makes me seethe. She has promised refunds to people and has not delivered.
Anyone who would like to Join the FB group "Real Artists Against Scam Artists" would be made very welcome!

See this is why I call this identity theft! it takes the livelyhood of others just as important as money being robbed directly.

Good for you not taking the job.

It is especially prevalent with the younger generations they copy music and don't even realize they are stealing.I see these kids go oh I want a such and such so they pay someone else to make it (not the original artist) then they are the first to get upset when someone copies their work

True the internet has opened a door thats a free for all. Kids that once upon a time would get screened out of a gallery or had slim chance of getting famous are able to get hugely noticed by standing on someone elses coattails, or a little photoshop overpainting etc.
It used to be china made knockoffs of original artists craft now we have it all over.
Ive seen it first hand the whining of the thief who gets stolen from.pathetic.

yeah but the group is getting nasty now. I deleted photos I put up. They want it just on topic of Aida's particular scam of the money they lost. which i can understand so the mods need to not let the other stuff slide and change the name of the group.

It's probably not that their desperate, but just plain old greedy. It is sickening and sad. Clearly this woman is lacking in some basic human emotions. God knows what else she's capable of.

As an artist and someone who wants to someday learn how to make ball jointed dolls, this is really disgusting. I hope something happens soon with her stuff, but at the same time don't think that a flame war would be helpful.

Nothing short of court will slow her down. So your right flame wars wont help. its just something that happens in the drama of ebay
All we can do is make her past scams visible so, she doesnt get more money.
I am a bjd maker. I made a few wooden ones when I was 15 and my Briar made in 05 was on the cover of dolls magazine. Id be happy to at least give tips and for free!
